Title: Satoshi mBTC BTC? Please what? Little Guide for Cryptocurrency.
Post by: CryptonianKami on October 17, 2017, 12:08:03 PM
Hey Community o/

I've seen a lot of people now, talking about Bitcoins when they actually talking about Satoshi. But whats the difference? See it like Dollar, where Bitcoin stands for Dollar and Satoshi for Cents.
Now, you could talk about 100'000 Satoshi or 0.001 Bitcoin, OR you can use the Term mBTC which is equal to 0.001 BTC. Too confusing? Let me show it in a table :

sat             satoshi                0.00000001  BTC
μBTC          micro Bitcoin            0.000001 BTC
mBTC         milli Bitcoin                    0.001 BTC
cBTC          centi Bitcoin                     0.01 BTC
dBTC          deci Bitcoin                        0.1 BTC
BTC            Bitcoin                                 1 BTC

Another good example would be:

1 BTC = 100 000 000 Satoshis
1 BTC = 1000 mBTC (millibitcoin)
1 mBTC = 100,000 Satoshis
1 μBTC (microbitcoin) = 100 Satoshis

There are even more in between and above 1 BTC f.e MBTC ( mega bitcoin ) which would stand for 1'000'000 Bitcoins !

As reference i've looked into the Wikipage, where you will find almost all the different Units in between and above.
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Units

I hope this Topic will help some, to get a better understanding for it. As its more complex then any FIAT Currency where you only have 2 Units, Dollar/Cent, Francs/Rappen, Peso/Centavo.

Kind regards Kami  ;)
